Petra was created with the simplest and most ancient gesture in mind: pounding. Before cooking, even before the object itself. Just a stone, a hollow, a hand that persists. Marble preserves the memory of these elementary gestures. The mortar returns to what it was in the beginning: not an elegant utensil, but a small place where matter changes and human gestures leave their mark.

Martinelli Venezia is a design and architecture studio founded in 2015 by Carolina Martinelli and Vittorio Venezia.
